Kelmarsh Wind Farm

As you will by now be aware, power company E. ON and the Kelmarsh Hall Estate are proposing installing wind turbines on grounds south of the A14, near to Haselbech and the historic Naseby battlefield.

Eon have it confirmed it wants to build seven turbines on land between Kelmarsh, Naseby, and Haselbech, known as Tallyho Covert.

Trustees from the Kelmarsh Hall Estate have said the scheme is being investigated as a way of ensuring the "financial stability" of the trust, allowing it to carry out essential repairs to the hall and estates.

For further information please see the following links to various websites:

If you have any comments (either for or against) or details of further links to other relevant websites please let me know, and I will post them on this page.

A message from the "Stop the Kelmarsh Wind Farm" campaign:

STOP THE KELMARSH WIND FARM

The Trustees of the Kelmarsh Estate are in consultation with E. ON to erect 7 x 120m wind turbines on estate land bordering the A14.

This could have a significant effect on Arthingworth in terms of noise, television interference, loss of house values and visual impact.

All residents of Arthingworth and surrounding villages - Harrington and Great Oxendon will also be affected - need to be informed on this proposal.

The latest information we have received concerns the resiting of the turbines. These have now been moved east of Tally Ho Lane and are considerably closer to Kelmarsh Hall and grounds. In addition to their proximity to the villages of Haselbech, Naseby, Clipston, Arthingworth and Maidwell and the Naseby Battlefield site, this now brings them closer to Kelmarsh village, The Grange and Grange Cottage, The Buddhist Centre and Bassetts Farm.

If you live in the area no doubt you have seen the anemometer, and may have been surprised that it’s not all that big. Remember: the anemometer is less than half the height of the proposed turbines. As we move towards the planning stage it is vital that our determination to oppose this development does not diminish.
