I don’t know if you have information regarding the Catesby family.
I was born in 1932 and lived in a village called Whiston about 7 miles from Northampton. I lived in a house built on the site of Place House (haunted) which was occupied by the Catesby family before they moved the house and all their goods to the nearby village of Ecton.
The village church St Mary was built by Antony Catesby in 1534 from his own finances. There is a monument to the Catesby family which starts ‘ In memory of Sir John Catesby of Arthingworth died 1485 and his heirs who died in succeeding years- it then goes on listing members of the family from 1503 - 1699, the monument was erected in 1700.
I started researching Robert Catesby who was involved in the gunpowder plot with a relative named Tresham, an Isobella Tresham married a Catesby – more research needed here, but you may be aware that Sir Thomas Tresham built Rothwell Church which is approx four miles from your village. (I visited the crypt when I was 13 years old). Francis Tresham was executed in 1605 aged 38 years, Robert Catesby was let off but was shot in another incident at Holbeache House Staffordshire in 1605 aged 32.
All the above may be a little garbled at the moment but I have just started my enquiries. Basically I want to link Whiston, Rothwell and Arthingworth families. I Like your web site

Gerry Law."

A request from Robin Riseley
Does anyone have any photos, information or even recollections of Arthingworth Hall?
I am researching Ethel Renton (nee Dawkins) who lived at the Hall between 1902? and 1914?
Also Colonel Renton, master of the Pytchley.
Also Dorothy Dawkins who live at the Hall until her marriage in St. Andrews Church on 14th Oct 1909.
Any help would be gratefully received,
Yours Robin Riseley
If you have any info, please contact me (Phil) courtneys@onetel.net and I will forward it on to Robin.

"My great great grandmother was Ellen R Kent who worked as a house maid in Arthingworth
1861.
I have enclosed a picture of her as an old lady she is sitting centre. I have
also enclosed the census for the year 1861.
Please could you tell me was there only
one large house in which she would be working as Arthingworth is down as the address.
Best
wishes Patricia”
